چکیده

This paper presents an architecture of signaldependent analog-to-digital converter (ADC) based on MINIMAX sampling scheme that allows achieving high data compression rate and power reduction. The proposed architecture consists of a conventional synchronous ADC, a timer and a peak detector, and AD conversion is carried out only when input signal peaks are detected. To improve the accuracy of signal reconstruction, MINIMAX sampling is improved so that multiple points are captured for each peak, and its effectiveness is experimentally confirmed. In addition, power reduction, which is the primary advantage of the proposed signal-dependent ADC, is analytically discussed and then validated with circuit simulations.

Improving adaptive resolution of analog to digital converters using least squares mean method

This paper presents an adaptive digital resolution improvement method for extrapolating and recursive analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). The presented adaptively enhanced ADC (AE-ADC) digitally estimates the digital equivalent of the input signal by utilizing an adaptive digital filter (ADF). The least mean squares (LMS) algorithm also determines the coefficients of the ADF block. In this sch...

Reprint Ultra - Wideband Analog - to - Digital Conversion Via Signal Expansion Sebastian Hoyos and Brian M . Sadler Award

We consider analog to digital (A/D) conversion, based on the quantization of coefficients obtained via the projection of a continuous time signal over a set of basis functions. The framework presented here for A/D conversion is motivated by the sampling of an input signal in domains which may lead to significantly less demanding A/D conversion characteristics, i.e., lower sampling rates and low...

On simple oversampled A/D conversion in L2(IR)

Accuracy of oversampled analog-to-digital (A/D) conversion, the dependence of accuracy on the sampling interval and on the bit rate are characteristics fundamental to A/D conversion but not completely understood. These characteristics are studied in this paper for oversampled A/D conversion of band-limited signals in ( ). We show that the digital sequence obtained in the process of oversampled ...

H-Inf-Optimal Fractional Delay Filters with Application to Pitch Shifting

Fractional delay filters are digital filters to delay discrete-time signals by a fraction of the sampling period. Since the delay is fractional, the intersample behavior of the original analog signal becomes crucial. In contrast to the conventional designs based on the Shannon sampling theorem with the band-limiting hypothesis, the present paper proposes a new approach based on the modern sampl...
